At the G7, Lula says that efforts against organized crime must respect the sovereignty of countries

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) stated this Tuesday (16) that action against organized crime must respect the sovereignty of the countries in which the factions are installed.
The PT member made the statement while participating in the G7 meeting in Évian-les-Bains, France, this Tuesday morning. The speech read by Lula at the meeting - which was attended by the President of the United States, Donald Trump - was released by Palácio do Planalto.
Lula's speech comes days after the decision of the US State Department, headed by Marco Rubio, to classify the Brazilian factions Comando Vermelho (CV) and Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC) as terrorists came into force.

"The Declaration of G7 Leaders on Combating Drug Trafficking is a positive step. But combating drug trafficking cannot be dissociated from other illicit activities such as money laundering and arms trafficking", added the PT member.
The G7 is a group of the world's main economies that meets to discuss global issues such as trade, war, climate and security. It is a political forum - it does not make mandatory decisions, but it has a lot of influence.
During the speech, Lula also stated that "neoliberalism has worsened economic inequality and the political crisis that are plaguing democracies today."
"Now, protectionism and unilateralism resurface as fallacious responses to the complexity of our problems", said the PT member.
