Asian stock markets closed higher this Friday (22), while investors continued to monitor diplomatic efforts towards a peace agreement between the United States and Iran.

Leading gains in the region, the Japanese Nikkei index rose 2.68% in Tokyo, to 63,339.07 points, driven by technology and electronics stocks.

Elsewhere in Asia, South Korea's Kospi rose 0.41% in Seoul to 7,847.71 points, while the Hang Seng gained 0.86% in Hong Kong to 25,606.03 points and the Taiex rose 2.17% in Taiwan to 42,267.97 points.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite rose 0.87%, to 4,112.90 points, and the less comprehensive Shenzhen Composite advanced 2.23%, to 2,862.78 points.

Yesterday afternoon, news circulated that the United States and Iran had reached a final draft of a Pakistan-brokered peace agreement.

Hours earlier, Reuters had released information that Tehran intended to keep its enriched uranium in the country, which was later denied by an Iranian official.

The climate of uncertainty supports oil, which rose again after three days of falls. At the end of the morning, Brent rose 3.2% to almost US$ 106 per barrel.

In Oceania, the Australian stock market also had a positive performance, with an increase of 0.41% in the S&P/ASX 200 in Sydney, to 8,657.00 points.
