Arsenal could leave the Champions League titleless list

Arsenal can leave behind an uncomfortable chapter in its history this Saturday (30), the date of the UEFA Champions League final. The team faces Paris Saint-Germain at 1pm (Brasília time), at Puskás Aréna, to end the streak of never having won the tournament in its history.

Under the command of Mikel Arteta, the team left Atlético de Madrid behind, another big club on the continent that never reached the continental title. The campaign helped the English club overcome its recent wounds and traumas.

20 years away from a decision
The last time Arsenal reached a Champions League decision was in 2005/2006. Goalkeeper Jens Lehmann was sent off in the 18th minute of the first half, after a foul on Eto'o. At the time, he claimed to have made a "calculation error", and the mistake was costly.

Facing a star-studded Barcelona, the team opened the scoring with Campbell, but was equalized by Eto'o and turned around by a goal from Belletti in the final minutes.

Since then, there have been years of discreet participation, reaching the maximum in the semi-finals, in 2008/2009.

From hell to heaven
If they win a title, Arsenal will go from one extreme to the other. From the fast on the continent to the select group of just nine teams from the so-called Modern Era of the Champions League (since 1992) that won the cup without suffering defeat. The last one was Real Madrid, in 2023/2024.
