Argentina's economic activity grows 5.5% in March, points out Indec
Argentina's economic activity grew 5.5% in March compared to the same month last year, according to data released this Thursday (21) by the Argentine National Institute of Statistics.
The increase in Latin America's third largest economy surpassed the 2.1% growth projection of analysts consulted by Reuters and reversed the 2.1% drop recorded in February.
The economic recovery in March was mainly driven by the agricultural sector, which showed an increase of 17.9% compared to the previous year, as well as the mining industry, which registered a jump of 16.3% compared to the same month last year.
Of the sectors monitored by EMAE's monthly economic activity indicator, only public administration, defense and social security recorded a contraction, with a drop of 1.2% compared to the previous year.
