The president of APS (Santos Port Authority), Anderson Pomini, said in an interview with the Conexão Infra program, shown this Thursday (25), that he delivered a model to Antaq (National Waterway Transport Agency) for the concession of the access channel for the Port of Santos.

According to Pomini, this is a "sponsored PPP", in which the private sector operates and maintains the system in question, but the public body continues to have decision-making power over the asset.

"The Port of Santos can never be privatized, as it involves national interest, but other services that are provided by the port authority must be privatized. In the case of the access channel, as it is also strategic, I am against privatization, but I am in favor of the so-called 'sponsored PPP', in which the Port of Santos chooses a company to manage for 30 years, but without losing the final say", he declared.

The president of APS also reiterated that he was against the privatization of the port authority - a topic debated for decades by the main names in the sector.

"Imagine if a company managed the Port of Santos, which ship would it give priority to? Which would give the greatest profit. The port authority does not aim for profit, it aims to serve national interests", he said.

"This is our model: the delivery of the administration of the access channel through the sponsored PPP. This is the model that we defend and now present to Antaq", he concluded.
