Anvisa orders batches of creatine and BCAA to be recalled due to health failures
Anvisa (National Health Surveillance Agency) suspended and ordered the voluntary recall of batches of creatine and other food supplements due to several irregularities in health requirements. The measure was published in the DOU (Official Gazette of the Union) this Friday (19).
The marketing, distribution and use of 11 batches of IDNLabs products were suspended, which voluntarily sent a recall notice to Anvisa. Among the products are creatine powder, beta-alanine and BCAA tablets.
To support the application of the measures, Anvisa pointed out "non-compliance with health requirements", "irregularities regarding product designation", "absence of mandatory warning" and "labeling that is difficult to see and the use of unauthorized claims".
The Agency also cites stability studies with results below the minimum limits or declared specifications, in addition to the company's recommendation for the use of beta-alanine in disagreement with the authorized limits and conditions.

Anvisa cites that articles 12, 21, 22, 23 and 48 of the law that establishes basic standards on food (986/1969) were violated; article 4 of the Agency's own resolution that defines the general principles for labeling packaged foods (727/2022); and articles 4, 10, 16 and 17 of the resolution that provides for the health requirements of food supplements (243/2018).
