ANTT extends automatic toll discounts for TAG users

Drivers who use electronic TAG on licensed federal highways can receive automatic and progressive discounts. The benefits are applied directly to the fee charge, without the need for additional registration by the user.

The model, proposed by ANTT (National Land Transport Agency), provides for two types of discount: the Basic Fare Discount and the Frequent User Discount. The first guarantees a fixed reduction of 5% in the fare value for vehicles that use the automatic toll lanes. The discount applies to cars, trucks and buses.

The Frequent User Discount works progressively for frequent users. From the second time you pass through the same toll plaza, in the same direction and within the same month, the driver starts to receive increasing discounts as the frequency of use of the highway increases.

According to the agency, after the 30th monthly ticket, the user starts paying a minimum fee until the end of that month's cycle. The following month, the count restarts.

ANTT states that the discount percentages and minimum values vary depending on the contract for each road concession. The frequent user benefit is valid for cars, trucks and vans, including those with a trailer. For heavy vehicles, such as trucks and buses with multiple axles, the fixed 5% discount provided for in the Basic Fare Discount continues to apply.

According to the agency, the measure is part of the federal government's strategy to expand the use of automatic charging systems on concession highways, especially given the expansion of the free flow model in the country.
