Anthropic releases Opus 4.8 while working on Mythos release

Anthropic announced this Thursday (28) the launch of the updated Claude Opus 4.8 model, while working to release the Mythos model to all customers in the coming weeks.

Mythos is the broad language model with advanced digital security features that have raised concerns among executives and world leaders.

As part of Project Glasswing, leading technology companies such as Amazon, Microsoft and Apple are permitted to use Mythos for electronic security purposes.

The company reported that Opus 4.8 will be available for the same price as its predecessor and shows improvements in all performance indicators.

Early testers report that the model is more likely to flag uncertainty around the work and less likely to make unsupported claims, Anthropic added.

"A general problem with AI models is that they sometimes jump to conclusions, confidently claiming that they have made progress in their work despite the evidence being thin," Anthropic stated.
