Anna Kendrick to direct adaptation of "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo"

Actress Anna Kendrick, from "Pitch Perfect", will direct the Netflix adaptation of the book "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo", according to information from Deadline.

This will be the actress's second directorial project, following the thriller "The Girl", which debuted in theaters in 2023.

Kendrick's announcement comes more than a year after director Leslye Headland, who was originally going to direct the film, announced that she would no longer participate in the project.

Alongside Kendrick, the book's author, Taylor Jenkins Reid, will serve as executive producer of the film.

Netflix acquired the rights to the story in 2022, but has not yet announced a release date for the film.

"The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo" tells the life story of actress Evelyn Hugo and her seven marriages.

The book is set in Old Hollywood in the 1950s and is told in two parts: the present, when Evelyn tells her story to journalist Monique Grant, and the past, when Evelyn begins her career.
