Anglo American CEO: Foreigners see mining potential in Brazil
Brazil has something that foreign investors value and see potential in the Brazilian mining sector, said Ana Sanches, CEO of Anglo American, during CNN Talks: New Era of Mining, held this Tuesday (30), in São Paulo, bringing together authorities, experts and sector leaders.
Sanches highlighted that "Brazil is undoubtedly" competitive, but that there is still the possibility of attracting even greater investments.
The executive acknowledged that the country has competitive advantages, but reinforced that it still "needs to go a long way" and with "increasingly larger steps" to be able to convert this potential into results.
Legal security, predictability, access to financing and workforce training are some of the challenges listed by the CEO of Anglo American.
"Mining will become increasingly essential when thinking about modern life. There is no technology without mining, there is no defense of any country without mineral resources and there is no energy transition", he pondered.
"Mining is no longer seen as a problem and is starting to be seen as a solution. The question now is how to transform all this potential we have in Brazil", he pointed out.
CNN Talks: New Era of Mining brings together authorities, businesspeople, experts and representatives of the mineral sector to discuss the paths of Brazilian mining in a new phase of global competition for critical minerals, energy transition and supply chain security.
The meeting takes place at a time when Brazil is trying to transform its geological advantage into economic, industrial and diplomatic protagonism, with debates on financing, environmental licensing, innovation, sustainability, traceability, added value and greater participation of the country in the most noble stages of the mineral chain.
Critical minerals could increase the country's GDP by R$243 billion by 2050
