Angelina Jolie says she hasn't dated since her split from Brad Pitt
Actress Angelina Jolie, 51, revealed that she hasn't dated anyone since her divorce from Brad Pitt, 62. In an interview with Yahoo Entertainment, she spoke about the relationship no longer being at the center of her life.
"So I kind of keep thinking that that side of me isn't at the center of my life if I'm focused on my kids and my family," she explained. According to Jolie, she credits her daughters with being able to reconnect with herself.
The actress also revealed that she reflected on her own life when playing Maxine, a filmmaker with breast cancer in her new film "Couture". The role made her reevaluate her own experience, as Angelina Jolie's mother, Marcheline Bertrand, died in 2007 due to complications from ovarian and breast cancer.
In addition, the actress also stated that playing the new character made him see motherhood in a different way.
"So it took me a second to say, 'See, she can also love her daughter and be devoted to her daughter and also need that as a woman and receive that as a woman.' And that, in fact, this can be very healing. Life broke me a little. I need to live again. To be free again", she said.
Mother of six children, Angelina Jolie said that her daughters are making her return to who she was before.
"I think now they want me to not just be 'mom'. There's a different space for me to be that woman again, that's not just a mom."
Troublesome divorce
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were together for 12 years. They started dating in 2004 and tied the knot in 2014.
In 2016, however, they began divorce proceedings. The separation began a long legal dispute involving custody of the six children and the division of assets, which was officially finalized with a divorce agreement signed at the end of 2024.
Ten years after their separation, the former couple is still fighting a legal battle over the French winery Château Miraval.
