Amid the G7 summit, Donald Trump appears again with marks on his hand

Throughout 2025, photos of Donald Trump's right hand with visible bruises or covered by makeup circulated and were the subject of a response from his spokeswoman. This Tuesday (16), in the midst of the G7 meeting, new images of unusual marks on the North American president's hand once again attracted attention. (See the photo above)

Trump's hand has already been in the spotlight
In August last year, Trump appeared wearing makeup on his right hand, a month after the White House confirmed the appearance of bruises on his skin.
At the time, social media users commented on the fact that Trump, allegedly trying to hide the back of his right hand while giving interviews, either by placing his other hand on top or by turning his wrist exaggeratedly when gesturing.
White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt did not comment directly on the makeup, but, questioned by the English newspaper "The Independent", made a reference to the American president's frequent handshakes.
"President Trump is a man of the people and meets with more Americans and shakes hands with them daily, more than any other president in history. His commitment is unshakable, and he proves it every day", Leavitt told the newspaper, on Saturday (23).

Diagnosis revealed in July
The coloring of Trump's hand had already attracted attention In July of that year, the United States government had already announced that President Donald Trump had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency.
According to Leavitt, at the time, Trump was evaluated by the presidential doctor due to swelling in his legs and bruises on his hands. The president also underwent blood tests and an ultrasound.
In a memo signed by doctor Sean Barbabella, the White House said that chronic venous insufficiency caused the swelling in Trump's legs, but emphasizes that it is a "benign and common condition, especially in individuals over 70 years of age."
The document also says that the president does not present thrombosis, nor signs of heart failure, renal impairment or systemic diseases. Purple spots appeared due to "frequent handshakes" and the use of aspirin.

In February 2025, the American press had already reported that the president had appeared with a purple right hand. At the time, the White House explained that the stains were the result of the many handshakes that Trump gave daily.
In May, when he was embarking on a trip to Qatar, the president was photographed with a yellowed hand, apparently made up to hide the purple stain. See below.

Chronic venous insufficiency
Chronic venous insufficiency is characterized by damage to the leg veins that prevents blood from flowing normally. When there is some type of damage to the lower veins, blood flow does not work as it should, which makes it difficult for blood to return from the legs to the heart.
In addition to age, heredity, obesity, pregnancy, use of estrogen-based contraceptives and spending a lot of time standing are predisposing factors to chronic venous insufficiency.
