While many young people struggle with the cost of living, one couple managed to live for free for three years and travel the world.
By looking after other people's pets, 25-year-old Hannah Cleaver and her husband Jack managed to save around £1,000. thousand) per month while visiting countries including the United States, Singapore, Australia, Thailand and Japan.
Their adventures included hearing a husky sing when its owner returned and being stranded in Hawaii for two weeks after Hannah accidentally flagged that she was a criminal on an immigration form.
What started as a temporary solution to avoid high rental costs in Cardiff after they finished their studies at the University of South Wales has now become a lifestyle choice.
"Free rent, no bills pay and we can still look after their pets, so for us that was a really good arrangement," said Hannah.
"It's like we're making little friends."
The pair found a fun way to deal with the cost of living.

Once they became a couple, they got steady jobs but struggled to find affordable housing in the Welsh capital.
Most landlords also required proof of monthly income, and Hannah added: "The Places we saw this year cost around £900 a month, not counting bills.
"For students, this is impossible without constantly working."
After seeing a TikTok video about caring for pets, the couple were skeptical at first, thinking it would be strange and even dangerous to move in with strangers.
But Jack's job in marketing allowed him to work remotely, so they decided to give it a trial run over the summer, focusing on Cardiff and Swansea.
Then, in September, they managed to arrange a job for three months, which made them realize this could become a long-term scheme.
After saving up enough money, the couple spent a year pet-sitting abroad, visiting countries in Asia and North America, as well as Australia.
They learned the customs of different countries, such as having to carry bottles of water in Japan to wash the sidewalks after the dog they were looking after did its business.

Although they don't get paid to look after the animals, it means they don't have to worry about rent or bills.
Hannah has gone back to university to study a masters in film, and the free accommodation has eased some of the financial pressure.
Robert Alexander, from Cardiff, is one of the pet owners who has hosted the couple in their home several times.
They looked after their cat, Oreo, and had the important task of giving her a present for her 15th birthday earlier this month.
"I've definitely noticed the increase in rent, especially in Cardiff," said Robert.
"I think students are struggling financially at the moment, so if offering a place to stay makes things a little easier for someone, I'm more than happy to be a part of that."
The couple graduated in 2021 from the University of Southern Ga les and has since been adventurous while caring for pets.

The couple have been taking bookings several months in advance and have been able to care for their pets without interruption.
While they like the lifestyle, they consider the lack of long-term stability to be the biggest downside.
"We don't always know where we'll be next month," said Hannah.
"Some people would hate that. But we like it
Their plan is to keep going caring for pets until Hannah finishes school and they can save money for a down payment on a house.
But for now, they're enjoying the bonds they create with their dogs and cats - and making sure that owners don't have to worry about their beloved animals.
"We've kept some of them six or seven times," Jack said.
"It's adorable - the animals recognize us.
"A husky in Seattle literally sang when his owner came back. hilarious."
