Alfredo Bertini, creator of the Cine PE festival, dies aged 65
Economist Alfredo Bertini, known for being the creator of the Cine PE festival, died this Thursday (4), aged 65. The news was lamented on the official channels of the event and of Sport Club do Recife, a football team of which he was a fan.
"30 years ago, a restless economist, visionary and passionate about the seventh art decided to turn a dream into reality. Inspired by the country's great film festivals, Alfredo Bertini left an established trajectory in public life to dedicate himself to the construction of a project that would forever change the history of Pernambuco and national audiovisual", wrote the festival in a note.
Bertini was undergoing health treatment in Paraíba and died from complications related to a liver transplant.
"Today, we regret his departure, but we also choose to celebrate his existence. Alfredo Bertini presented us with a space of dreams, of cultural resistance, of public formation and of appreciation of Brazilian audiovisual. May the theaters remain full, may the films be seen, debated and applauded, because the best way to thank him for everything he built is to have, together, a great celebration of national cinema", wrote the festival.
The wake took place this Friday (5) at the Social Headquarters of Sport Club do Recife. The businessman leaves two children, Vitor and Patrícia, and was married to Sandra.
