The president of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP), stated this Tuesday (30) that he had a "very good" conversation with the new government leader in the House, senator Teresa Leitão (PT-PE). He stated that the parliamentarian has a "very important" role in the dialogue between the powers.

"I recognize your ability to articulate. I want to tell Your Excellency [Teresa Leitão] and Brazil that I was very happy with the meeting we had this morning. I am absolutely convinced that you absolutely understood the role of the head of Power and president of the National Congress. And, in this condition, You have a very important mission in this dialogue", he said in plenary this afternoon.

The meeting was the first since the parliamentarian was appointed by the government last week to take the position in place of Senator Jaques Wagner (PT-BA), the target of a Federal Police operation on the Banco Master case. This morning's meeting was also attended by the Minister of the Institutional Relations Secretariat, José Guimarães, responsible for articulating the Planalto with the National Congress.

During the session, Teresa thanked Alcolumbre for the conversation and made commitments. She stated that she intends to carry out the role with dialogue as a "permanent method" and that she wants to "build bridges" with all the House's benches. He also said that he will maintain a "relationship of institutional cooperation, reciprocal respect and permanent search for understandings around matters of national interest" with Alcolumbre.

"I am grateful for the tone of the meeting, the sincerity of the meeting, what we have built and I hope that this is the first of many that will come to build our agendas in accordance with our mission here in the Senate, in accordance with the interests of the Government, which I represent, but also respecting the role of President of Power", he said in the gallery.

The senator was appointed to the position last Thursday (25) after a conversation with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). On Monday (29), the congresswoman had a meeting with the Chief Executive and Guimarães about the government's priority agendas.

The end of the 6×1 work schedule is Planalto's biggest priority and unlocking the proposal is seen as Teresa's "mission" in office. The senator is expected to participate in a new meeting with Alcolumbre and parliamentarians on Wednesday (1st) to discuss the matter.

The meeting should include senator Paulo Paim (PT-RS) and deputies Reginaldo Lopes (PT-MG) and Erika Hilton (PSOL-SP), authors of proposals on reducing working hours. After the meeting, the end of the 6×1 will be discussed in a thematic debate session in the Senate plenary.

Regarding the proposal, Alcolumbre once again said that the House should not play the role of "stamp" and, therefore, will not be in a hurry to analyze the text approved in the Chamber. "A matter debated for many months in the Chamber of Deputies cannot be immediately, automatically stamped and deliberated in the Plenary of the Federal Senate", declared the senator.
