Albanian government defends paying more than R$20 million per Kanye West show

The Albanian government defended, this Friday (10), the payment of four million euros (4.6 million dollars or 23.6 million reais) to finance the next concert by American rapper Kanye West in the country's capital.
The show, for which a special structure was built on the outskirts of the city, was expected to attract 60,000 people, but the local press reported that ticket sales fell far short of expectations.
"The success of a show is not only measured by the revenue from ticket sales", stated the Minister of Culture, Blendi Gonxhe, citing the estimated tourist benefits that the event could generate.

West sparked outrage with praise for Adolf Hitler, a song titled "Heil Hitler" and the sale of t-shirts with a swastika on his website.
He later denied being anti-Semitic and distanced himself from his statements, which he attributed to his bipolar disorder.
The announcement comes amid protests demanding the resignation of Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, triggered by a tourist complex project linked to the president's family of the United States, Donald Trump, in the south of the country.
The protest movement, which initially demanded the protection of a natural reserve, became a catalyst for widespread outrage against corruption.
