AGU prepares new unified competition with 170 vacancies for legal careers

The AGU (General Attorney's Office of the Union) is preparing a new unified public competition for hiring union lawyers, national treasury attorneys, federal attorneys and Central Bank attorneys.

According to the Union lawyer, Jorge Messias, negotiations are being carried out between the AGU and the MGI (Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services) and are in the final phase.

170 vacancies must be made available (50 for Union Lawyer, 50 for National Treasury Attorney, 50 for Federal Attorney and 20 for Central Bank Attorney).

The candidate must inform when registering which career they are interested in. The forecast is that the tests for each category will be administered on different days.

Messias states, in a note published on the government website, that the competition tries to combat the "cannibalization" of careers, which is the constant migration of professionals between different public administration bodies.

"This career transition brings harm to institutions. So, let's do it in a way that allows candidates to define their choice based on their vocation, without the possibility of migrating and rotating staff from one institution to the detriment of another", he said.

The body says it will have appointed, in 2025, 400 new higher-level civil servants who were approved through the Unified National Public Competition (CPNU).
