AGU notifies Google in Brazil about YouTube profiles that promote illegal betting

The Attorney General's Office (AGU) reported this Friday (3) that it had extrajudicially notified Google in Brazil, asking for the immediate removal of profiles on YouTube that promote and facilitate the creation of betting platforms not authorized to operate in the country.
The measure, said the AGU in a statement, seeks to "combat the affront to national legislation and ensure compliance with decisions of the Federal Supreme Court (STF)".

The notification, made through the National Prosecutor's Office for the Defense of Democracy (PNDD), refers to tutorials on "how to create a casino platform" and marketing strategies for the "jogo do bicho online", says the AGU.
The body added that the videos were published on YouTube and identified based on an investigation carried out by Agência Lupa.

According to the Union's lawyers, the profiles are called those of companies of digital marketing, but they freely propagate unregulated gambling and encourage practices that constitute criminal misdemeanors.
In the notification, the AGU warns that the systematic circulation of these materials represents a threat to the integrity of information and the protection of consumers, and may be linked to crimes such as tax evasion and money laundering.
"Failure to remove content may generate joint civil liability for the platform", he added.
