Corinthians hosted Avaí, during the afternoon of this Wednesday (10), at the Alfredo Schürig Stadium, Fazendinha, in Parque São Jorge, in a match valid for the 15th round of the classification phase of the 2026 Brazilian Under-20 Championship. Alvinegro's goals scored: Luiz Fernando (twice), Luiz Fábio 'Favela', Joãozinho, Guilherme Pellegrin and Iago Machado. The three points saw the Corinthians team rise to tenth place with 22 points - six wins, four draws and five defeats - 25 goals scored and eight conceded.
In addition, with the triumph, Timãozinho broke a negative streak playing at home. Previously, the last positive result was on February 21st, when they beat Amércia-MG, by a score of 4 x 0, in the debut of the Brasileirão U20. On that occasion, Luiz Fernando 'Luizinho (twice), Lorenzo and against scored the goals for Filhos do Terrão.

Since then, Filhos do Terrão had entered the field at Fazendinha six times, having drawn one match and lost the other five - one goal scored and another 10 conceded. William Batista's men also won again in the national competition after three matches, as they came from defeats to Palmeiras and Vasco, both at home, by 1 x 0, and a 3 x 3 draw against Red Bull Bragantino in Atibaia.
Before, the last victory in the Brazilian Under-20 Championship had taken place on May 13th, when they beat Cuiabá, 2 x 0, in Mato Grosso. If they hadn't won this Wednesday, Alvinegro would have reached their longest drought in the competition since mid-2025. At the time, they didn't win the last six matches of the tournament, registering three draws: Vasco da Gama (1 x 1) / América-MG (1 x 1) / Juventude (0 x 0) and three defeats: Red Bull Bragantino (3 x 0), Internacional (1 x 0) / Fluminense (4 x 1).
After beating Avaí, at home, in the Brasileirão U20, Corinthians will resume its focus on the Campeonato Paulista category. This is because, next Saturday (13), at 3pm (Brasília time), Alvinegro will host Portuguesa, in the second round of the first phase of the state championship. With the triumph on their debut, Timão started in sixth place in Group 1.
