After the operation against Jaques, Flávio talks about "PT da Bahia imploded by the PF"

After Senator Jaques Wagner (PT-BA), government leader in the Federal Senate, was the target of the 9th phase of Operation Compliance Zero, launched this Thursday (18) by the PF (Federal Police), Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) stated that the "PT of Bahia was imploded by the Federal Police".

"The PT of Bahia has just been imploded by the Federal Police due to an operation against the leader of the PT in Bahia, Jaques Wagner. It's a bad day for the PCC, for the CV and also for the PT", declared Flávio during an event in São Paulo.

Earlier, the senator had already commented on the case on social media.

New phase of the operation
The new phase of Operation Compliance Zero complies with 18 search and seizure warrants issued by the STF (Supreme Federal Court) in Bahia, São Paulo and the Federal District.

In addition to search and seizure, precautionary measures other than those in prison are also being implemented, such as prohibition of contact between those under investigation and suspension of passports.

Crimes of passive corruption, active corruption and money laundering are investigated. In addition to Jaques Wagner, former Banco Master partner Augusto Ferreira Lima is also a target of the PF.

The Federal Police seized around 49 thousand dollars (R$ 248.1 thousand) at an address linked to the government leader in the Senate in Brasília.

According to the document authorizing the operation, authored by STF minister André Mendonça, the investigation identified elements that indicate "receipt of undue economic advantages by the parliamentarian".

"A possible illicit relationship between managers of Banco Master, notably Augusto Ferreira Lima and Daniel Bueno Vorcaro, and Senator Jaques Wagner is being investigated. The Federal Police maintains that, in the course of the investigations, elements indicating the receipt of undue economic advantages by the parliamentarian, directly or indirectly, through family members, trusted people and corporate structures linked to the economic group under investigation were identified", says an excerpt from the decision.

Sought by CNN Brasil, Augusto Lima's defense stated that the measures carried out by the PF today are "unnecessary" and denied any illicit practice.

"In any case, the measures will help to demonstrate that the facts discovered at this stage of the investigation are strictly lawful", says the statement.

"Augusto Lima has always acted within the limits of the law, with transparency, technical responsibility and compliance with the rules that govern the financial system and public administration."

CNN Brasil also contacted the senator's defense team. The space remains open for demonstrations.
