On May 30th, Saturday, Corinthians ended the first half of the 2026 season with a 3-1 victory over Grêmio, in Rio Grande do Sul, in a duel valid for the 18th round of the Brazilian Championship. Timão's goals were scored by André Luiz (twice) and striker Kaio César. The positive result saw Alvinegro jump to tenth place with 24 points - 18 goals scored and 19 conceded.

Despite the recent recovery in the national competition, moving away from the relegation zone, Alvinegro ended the first six months of the year among the most undisciplined teams in the current edition of the Brasileirão. In 18 games in the tournament, there are 47 yellow cards and four red cards, being the third with the most cards, losing only to Santos (58) and Red Bull Bragantino (54) - check the complete ranking at the end of this article.

The Corinthians player with the most cards was left-back Matheus Bidu, who received five warnings, all with yellow cards. He is followed by Matheuzinho, Allan and Raniele, who have four cards each. The athlete who was sent off the most times is midfielder André Luiz (twice). The first of them happened in the goalless draw in Derby against Palmeiras, on April 12, at the Neo Química Arena, for the Brasileirão. The number 49 made an obscene gesture towards the rival's player, Andreas Pereira. The second expulsion came two weeks later, after fouling Thiago Mendes, in the 1-0 win over Vasco, in Itaquera.

The episodes in question resulted in the young man being punished by the Supreme Court of Sports Justice (STJD). Allan was also sent off for an obscene gesture in the 3-1 defeat against Fluminense at Maracanã in early April, and also received a warning from the organization. Another who was sent off was right-back Matheuzinho, after attacking Flaco López in the derby against Palmeiras, at home, in mid-April. Just like André, he ended up punished by the STJD.

Corinthians, it is worth remembering, according to ge.globo, will return to training next Thursday (25), at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava, to continue preparing for the sequence of the season, which will include knockouts of the Copa do Brasil and Libertadores, in addition to the Brazilian Championship in terms of points. Officially, Timão will only return to the field the week of July 22nd, when they will host Remo, in Itaquera, to close the first round of the Brasileirão. Before that, they must play a friendly against FC Cascavel, in Paraná, planned for July 12th.
