After criticism, Michelle says that the Bolsonaro government's policy for the deaf belongs to the Bolsonaro government

In reaction to criticism from the Bolsonaro base, former first lady Michelle Bolsonaro (PL) made a new post on her social networks stating that the National Policy for Bilingual Education for the Deaf, launched last Friday (3) by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), was "drafted and presented" by former President Jair Bolsonaro.

"I have always been an advocate for people with disabilities. This is the agenda of my heart and it is above any ideology or party", says Michelle.

According to the former first lady, the measure was presented during the Bolsonaro government, but a legal action extended the deadline for implementing the policy beyond the government that left the Palácio do Planalto in 2022.

"The National Bilingual Education Policy for the Deaf - launched today - was prepared and presented in our government, the result of our affection and care for the Deaf Community. Unfortunately, a legal action delayed the processing and it was not possible to deliver it before the end of our government", he said.

After a first publication praising the measure, Michelle Bolsonaro became the target of criticism from Bolsonaro activists and politicians, who called her a "traitor" and shared montages of herself wearing the PT shirt.

Also in the publication, the former first lady recalled the approval of the Amália Barros Law, authored by senator Rogério Carvalho (PT-SE), during her husband's government as an example of her position. "Jair didn't look at who presented the project. He evaluated the good it would do to people and happily sanctioned the Law."

The law in question recognizes monocular vision as a sensory disability, expanding access to rights and benefits for people with disabilities.

Michelle concluded her message by stating that the benefits resulting from the new policy are above whoever presented the project. "The most important thing is not who presented the Policy, but who will benefit from it - the Deaf Community! Congratulations to them!"

The episode was another moment of crisis between the former first lady and the Bolsonaro base, which became heated after the publication of a video in which she said she had been "stabbed" by her stepson, the senator and presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ).

After the disagreement, Michelle met with Valdemar Costa Neto, president of the party, and chose to leave the command of PL Mulher.
