After a new US attack, the government registers the 'PIX' brand with the INPI; protection is valid for exclusive use in Brazil

After new attacks by the United States on PIX, the Brazilian system for transferring resources in real time, the Brazilian government announced this Wednesday (10) that it will register the brand with the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI).
The information was given by the Minister of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC), Márcio Elias Rosa, during a meeting of the Council for Economic and Social Development (CDES), the so-called "conselhão", at Palácio do Planalto.
According to the Property Law Industrial, however, the registration of the brand with the INPI assures the holder of its exclusive use within the national territory, and not abroad.
