When Afghan Roya Karimi was 14 years old, she got married against her will. At 15, he had a son.
"It was like a prison. I had no right to have any opinion about life", recalls the Afghan, who is now resuming her own life as a bodybuilder.
The turning point came when she was 17 years old and decided to flee to Norway with her two-year-old son. There, Roya found security, freedom and independence, and began studying nursing.
"I was very excited, studying subjects I had never known before. All the students left, but I stayed at school for another three or four hours, studying and asking questions to all the teachers."
It was then that she found a space to heal. "Bodybuilding and the gym helped me a lot. They helped me with mental and physical challenges", says Roya.
In Norway, Roya also found love. Her husband, Kamal, introduced her to bodybuilding, and she began competing. "I use my social networks as motivation for other girls."
Today, she has already won national and European titles, and this is just the beginning. Roya wants to reach the highest level of bodybuilding.
