Advancement of the Clarity Act encourages crypto investors
The cryptocurrency market is eagerly following the progress of the Clarity Act in the United States.
The Senate Banking Committee approved the project last Thursday (14). Now, the text goes to a vote in the Senate plenary before a possible sanction by the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
This and other economic issues will be covered in the program and in News da Resenha, a newsletter to keep investors informed and help them make better decisions in the market.
The proposal seeks to establish clearer rules for the bitcoin and cryptocurrency market, bringing regulatory predictability over the functioning of the sector, including definitions on remuneration, financial products and the operations of crypto companies in the country.
For Bernardo Pascowitch, presenter of Resenha do Dinheiro, approval by the committee was enough to move the market.
"The crypto market is anxious as this means greater buyer flow and clarity for institutional investors to buy, trade and invest in this market", he notes.
According to him, regulation opens up space for greater entry of institutional capital into the sector, something considered important for the maturation of the crypto market.
Thiago Godoy, financial educator, highlights that the regulatory advance represents a change for a market that emerged precisely as an alternative to the traditional financial system.
"It is ironic to think that bitcoin and cryptocurrencies were born as an alternative to the traditional financial system, but now they can benefit precisely from the approach of this market, which is beginning to 'embrace' the crypto sector", he states.
Despite optimism, Godoy warns that regulation does not eliminate the risks of digital assets.
"Regulation is important, but it does not mean that bitcoin will stop being volatile. It remains a risky asset even with any regulation", he says.
In Brazil, the regulatory debate still takes place differently, more concentrated on tax and operational issues than on broad legislation for the sector, analyzes Pascowitch.
"I don't see this regulatory discussion in Brazil at the same American level. What I see more are tax discussions involving bitcoin and cryptocurrencies", he adds.
