Actress Camila Mendes, 31, revealed that she is fulfilling a childhood dream. She will take on her first role in a major production in the Mattel franchise, playing Teela in "Masters of the Universe". The character is a warrior who connects with a friend from the past, Prince Adam/He-Man (Nicholas Galitzine), when her home planet is threatened by the villain Skeletor (Jared Leto).

"More than anything, I always dreamed of being in a superhero movie and I never imagined an opportunity like this would arise," Mendes said in an interview with People magazine about landing the role in the feature film. "There's Marvel and DC, and I feel like those characters have been played so many times by different people, and that brings with it a certain pressure."

The film will be directed by filmmaker Travis Knight and is based on the Mattel toy line, adapted for the screen in the famous He-Man cartoon.

Camila Mendes reported that the audition process was challenging, but a lot of fun. "It was really cool to enter this world that had been practically untouched for a long time, especially in the world of films with real actors," he added. "And it was really cool to be able to bring these dormant characters to life again."

"Masters of the Universe" is scheduled to premiere on June 4, 2026 in Brazilian cinemas and features names such as Alison Brie, Idris Elba, Kristen Wiig and others.
