The Rio de Janeiro Jury Court begins, this Wednesday (8), the trial of Jeander Vinícius da Silva Braga, accused of participating in the murder of actor Jeff Machado. He is responsible for the crimes of qualified homicide, concealment of a corpse and animal abuse.

A native of Araranguá, Santa Catarina, Jeff Machado was 44 years old. With experience as an actor, he even acted in the soap opera "Reis", on Record. But he was also a journalist and producer, and aimed to consolidate his artistic career in Rio de Janeiro.

According to the investigation, Jeff Machado was killed after charging Bruno de Souza Rodrigues with a false promise of getting a place in a soap opera. The police claim that the actor paid R$18,000 to the accused.

Remember the case
Missing since January 2023, Jeff was found dead in May of the same year. The body was buried inside a chest, covered in concrete, in a property in the Campo Grande neighborhood, in the West Zone of Rio.

The accusation of mistreatment is related to the abandonment of the eight Setter dogs that belonged to the actor after the crime. According to investigations, the animals were left without their owner's care and two of them died.

In testimony, Jeander admits to having participated in hiding the corpse, but denies involvement in the homicide. The prosecution, on the other hand, maintains that he participated in planning the crime, was present at the time of death and helped hide the body.

The process was dismembered. The trial of Bruno de Souza Rodrigues, who is responsible for eight crimes, is scheduled for December 10, 2026.
