Accident with parachuting school plane leaves 11 dead in France, says agency

Eleven people died in a plane crash in the city of Tomblaine, in northeastern France, this Sunday (28), according to the local city hall.
The aircraft belonged to a parachuting school. The pilot and ten occupants died: five students and five instructors.
The French Interior Minister is on his way to the scene of the accident, the ministry said.
In an interview with BFMTV, Thierry Pechey, president of the Council of the Order of Liberal Nurses of Meurthe-et-Moselle, stated that, "everything indicates", the victims would be liberal nurses.
According to him, the group was taking part in a parachuting baptism flight organized for this Sunday (28). "They would be half nurses and half instructors," he said.
The mayor (government representative in the department), Yves Séguy, who was at the scene of the accident, reported on social media that he had decided to activate the Departmental Operational Center (COD), with the participation of all emergency services, to monitor the incident in real time.
According to reports, the police asked people to avoid the area around the airport, in the department of Meurthe-et-Moselle.
