Accident on Petronas oil platform leaves three dead in Malaysia

Three people died and one was injured during a work accident on a floating storage and transfer vessel (FSO) operated by Malaysia's state energy company, Petronas, in Malaysia late Sunday afternoon (24).
According to Malaysia's state news agency, Bernama, the workers went down to sea in a boat to carry out some maintenance. However, before descending, the rope holding them came loose and they fell into the sea.
In a statement, Petronas said that the three professionals were declared dead upon arrival at Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital, in Kuala Terengganu. The survivor is undergoing medical treatment and remains under observation.
Also according to the company, investigations are ongoing with local authorities and the priority at the moment is to provide support to those affected.
The platform on which the accident occurred is the FSO Sepat model, designed for storage and unloading. Petronas did not provide further details about what happened.
