85% of Brazilians are not excited for the World Cup
The vast majority of Brazilians are not excited about this year's World Cup, according to a survey released by AtlasIntel.
The survey put five topics to choose from: very excited, excited, neither excited nor discouraged, not very excited and not at all excited.
- Very excited: 5.3%
- Excited: 9.6%
- Neither excited nor discouraged: 35.3%
- Not very excited: 17.7%
- Not at all excited: 32.1%
On the CNN Esportes S/A program this Sunday (24), Ygor Sampaio, head of intelligence, brands and consumer habits at AtlasIntel gave reasons why this percentage is so high.
I think there is a certain paradox that Brazilians are not excited about the World Cup yet, but that is not enough for him to abandon the event. Around 65% of people say they will watch the World Cup, they intend to watch the World Cup, and 85% of people say they will support the Brazilian team. So, I think that fans are much more motivated today by the cultural heritage of watching the World Cup event than by the spirit and atmosphere that is created at that moment.

Ygor also commented on the processes to achieve the survey. The company interviewed 964 people, using an exclusive methodology.
We heard from 964 people. Our research follows our proprietary methodology, Atlas RDR, which is a methodology where we approach people on social media. They are invited to participate in our research. And then, from there, they enter our environment and we ask for all the information related to the topic and also demographic data to understand who the respondent is and be able to provide data that is representative of the Brazilian population.
