The Ministry of Management and Innovation authorized this Wednesday (10) for federal employees to work shorter shifts on the days of games for the Brazilian team at the 2026 World Cup.
The ordinance allows employees to leave three hours before the start of the match. The rule applies to the group stage and also to the "knock-out", as Brazil progresses through the stages of the competition.
The rule also applies to civil servant public employees, temporary contractors, interns and outsourced workers who work in federal public administration buildings and local authorities.
The rule provides that hours not worked must be compensated later. Those who do not work and do not compensate will have a proportional discount on their paycheck.

"The measure seeks to provide predictability to the functioning of federal bodies during the National Team's games, without interrupting the provision of services to the population", says the Ministry of Management and Innovation.
Also according to the ordinance, public bodies will continue to operate, including during game time. The measure allows employees who wish to work normally, without changing their schedule.
Essential services must also be maintained without interruption. In this case, it will be up to each manager to organize schedules to avoid service interruptions.
