2026 World Cup breaks record for goals scored in the same edition

The match between the United States and Türkiye this Thursday (25), at SoFi Stadium, in Los Angeles, set an important milestone in the history of the World Cup. The North American team's first goal broke the record for most balls in the net in the same edition of the tournament.

At the moment of defender Auston Trusty's goal, the milestone of 173 goals was reached. The record belonged to the 2022 edition, in Qatar, when 172 goals were scored in a competition that ended with Argentina's title.
