10 years ago, Brazil defeated Haiti with a goal from Gabigol and a hat-trick from Coutinho

Brazil faces Haiti this Friday (19), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), with an eye on their first victory in the 2026 World Cup. This will be the teams' first meeting in 10 years, since the duel valid for the group stage of the Copa América Centenário, in 2026.

On that occasion, the Brazilian team thrashed their opponents with an elastic score of 7 to 1. Philippe Coutinho, who at the time stood out at Liverpool, led the team's victory with a hat-trick. Renato Augusto (twice), Gabigol and Lucas Lima also scored.

Among the 26 called up, five players were present in the match that took place at the Camping World Stadium, in Orlando, in the United States. Alisson, Marquinhos and Casemiro started as starters, while Douglas Santos and Fabinho remained on the bench.

On the Haitian side, only two athletes remain in the selection in the team competing in the World Cup. Goalkeeper Johny Placide remains the absolute starter in goal. Duckens Nazon, a striker who is the country's all-time top scorer with 44 goals, was a substitute in the 1-0 defeat to Scotland.

In that edition of the Copa América, Brazil was eliminated in the group stage, after a 1-0 defeat to Peru. Coach Dunga's men finished in ninth place overall, achieving the team's worst result in the history of the tournament.
