Trump calls Zelensky Putin and confuses Iran with Japan
The president of the United States, Donald Trump, committed two gaffes during a press conference alongside the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, this Wednesday (8), in Ankara, during the NATO summit. See the video above.

When commenting on the conflict with Iran, Trump stated that "111 missiles were fired by the Islamic Republic of Japan" against the American aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln. Then he continued his speech normally.
The statement was made while Trump defended the actions of the US Armed Forces against Iran and stated that all missiles launched at the ship had been intercepted.
Earlier, the American president stated that the peace agreement with Iran is "over" and said that he does not intend to resume dialogue with Tehran.
"I'm going to give you a little warning: we're going to attack them hard tonight," he told reporters. "If necessary, we will cut the electricity system and water treatment plants, but we don't want that."
The United States and Iran once again exchanged attacks. In recent hours, American forces have bombed targets in southern Iran after accusing the Iranian regime of attacking three commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the main routes for global oil trade.
'Question for Putin'

During the same press conference, Trump also confused Zelensky with the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin.
When asking journalists to suggest a question for the conversation he would have with the Russian leader, the US president said: "Ask Putin a question", while standing next to Zelensky.
Trump then tried to circumvent the situation by explaining that he was asking a question to ask the Russian president.
"Ask Putin a question, because I'm going to talk to him today. Give me a good, difficult question," Trump said.
The name change is reminiscent of an episode involving then-president Joe Biden during the 2024 NATO summit in Washington. At the time, Biden introduced Zelensky as "President Putin" before correcting himself.
"Ladies and gentlemen, President Putin," said Biden, who then corrected himself: "He will defeat President Putin... President Zelensky... you are much better."
The error occurred minutes before a decisive press conference, amid pressure for him to give up his re-election campaign.
Putin has been Zelensky's main opponent since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which began in 2022.
