OpenAI launches this Thursday (9) GPT-5.6, its most advanced artificial intelligence model, after postponing its debut last month at the request of Donald Trump's government.
The postponement occurred amid increasing concerns about national security and the possible misuse of high-capacity AI technologies.

Until now, GPT-5.6 was only available to a restricted group of OpenAI partners, previously approved by the company and the United States government.
In a post on the social network they bring advances in the ability to perform tasks more autonomously - in areas such as programming and cybersecurity.
According to the company, GPT-5.6 Sol performed similarly to Anthropic's Mythos Preview in a test used to measure the ability of AI models in tasks related to cybersecurity.

Dispute in AI
The United States and China are competing for leadership in the development of cutting-edge artificial intelligence models that can significantly accelerate sophisticated cyber attacks against sectors that depend on complex, interconnected and often decades-old technological systems.
Faced with this scenario, the American government intensified the analysis of new advanced AI models before their launch to identify possible risks, given the concern that the technology could be exploited by military forces or intelligence services of the China, Russia and other countries.
Chinese authorities also held meetings with the country's top technology companies to discuss the possibility of restricting international access to China's most advanced AI models, including those that have not even been released yet.
OpenAI competitor Anthropic had abruptly disabled its most advanced AI models, Mythos 5 and Fable 5, for all users following the export control order issued by the US government on June 12, prompted by concerns of national security.

The restrictions were lifted last week after the company implemented additional protective measures.
The website Axios, which first reported the news about OpenAI's launch, reported that President Donald Trump's administration approved the broad launch of GPT-5.6 after additional testing and meetings between company representatives and US officials.
The White House and the US Department of Commerce did not respond to Reuters' requests for comment outside business hours.
Billionaire Elon Musk, whose company SpaceXAI competes with Anthropic and OpenAI, said on Wednesday it is also making its flagship AI model, Grok 4.5, publicly available.
National security concerns
Trump signed an executive order that creates a voluntary mechanism by which AI developers can present their so-called "frontier models" to the US government for up to 30 days before releasing them to partners deemed trustworthy.
Although Washington has lifted export restrictions on the model Fable, from Anthropic, Mythos, developed for cybersecurity professionals, remains available only to some American organizations considered "trustworthy".
In China, authorities are concerned about the possibility of Mythos being used to exploit vulnerabilities in software and the possibility of the United States using the model against Beijing's interests.
Anthropic stated that it is "probably impossible" to make any artificial intelligence model completely resistant to jailbreak techniques - methods used to bypass the restrictions and security mechanisms of these systems.
