The president of Argentina, Javier Milei, announced this Tuesday (7) that he wants to implement a bill focused on creating a mechanism for "paralysis" of the Executive Branch inspired by the United States system.
According to Milei, the objective is to prevent politics from financing expenses beyond its real capabilities and the Budget authorized by the National Congress, imposing absolute fiscal discipline and establishing a limit on State spending.
"We are working on preparing a shutdown of the Executive Branch, or rather, of politics," said the Argentine president in an interview.

The "government shutdown" is an institutional mechanism used by the USA that comes into force automatically when the Legislative Branch does not approve general budget laws in a timely manner or, at least, does not grant a temporary financing authorization.
The measure obliges the public administration to immediately suspend all activities and services considered not essential for the basic functioning of the system. Only issues related to national security, public health and emergency response remain operational.
The current Financial Administration Law, in force in Argentina, stipulates that, in the absence of a budget approved at the beginning of the year, the previous year's budget law comes into force automatically to guarantee the uninterrupted functioning of the State and avoid the paralysis of public services due to the lack of political consensus.
