The United States Central Command (Centcom) reported this Tuesday (7) that it began the offensive "to impose a high cost on those who attack commercial ships manned by innocent people on a route international".
Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister, Kazem Gharibabadi, stated that the American action violates the memorandum signed between the two countries last month and warned that Tehran will adopt "decisive measures".
The three oil tankers were hit within 24 hours, between Monday (6) and Tuesday, according to the British agency UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO). There were no reports of casualties.
In response, a member of the American government stated that Iran will face consequences and classified the incidents as "totally unacceptable".
In a statement published on the social network X on Tuesday night, Centcom stated that the bombings were carried out "in response to Iranian attacks". Hormuz, views of Musandam, Oman, on June 3, 2026

At the same time, the United States Treasury Department on Tuesday revoked a sanctions exemption that temporarily lifted restrictions on Iran's oil exports.
The authorization, which allowed the country to sell oil and oil products, was part of the memorandum of understanding signed between Washington and Tehran last month.
A statement published on the Treasury Department's website on Tuesday said that A transition period until July 17 would be granted for transactions that had been permitted by the exemption.
Iran's Foreign Ministry stated that the decision violates the memorandum and demonstrates the "bad faith, inconsistency and lack of trustworthiness" of the United States government.
The ministry added that Tehran "will take all measures it deems necessary to protect its national interests and national security."
Prior to Centcom's announcement of the new offensive, a member of the American government, on condition of anonymity, stated that the country's negotiators would continue working "in good faith" to reach a definitive agreement with Iran.
Qatar and Saudi Arabia also condemned the incidents. Both countries said oil tankers flying their flags were hit while sailing through or near the Strait of Hormuz and held Iran responsible.
Qatar Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al Ansari said the country holds Iran "fully responsible" for the apparent attack aimed at the Al-Rekayyat ship, which was transiting close to the strait.
In a post on the social network X, Al Ansari called on Iran to "immediately cease all practices that compromise regional security" and "stop putting the global energy supply and resources of countries in the region at risk in pursuit of restricted interests."
In another post on the social network, the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Saudi oil tanker Wadyan was also hit while crossing the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the ministry, the attacks represent "a threat to the security of international navigation and the global energy supply".

The spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Baghaei, classified Qatar's accusations as "contrary to the principle of good neighborliness".
In a statement published on Telegram, Baghaei stated that commercial vessels that use routes that are not coordinated with Iran or manipulate its tracking systems are at risk of collision and hamper the country's efforts to "guarantee a safe crossing" through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the British agency UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), a tanker sailing through the strait reported a fire after a projectile of unknown origin hit the engine room on Monday.
In two other episodes recorded on Tuesday, a tanker was hit as it left the strait, but managed to continue its journey to the port of destination. Another suffered minor structural damage after being hit, the organization reported.
The memorandum of understanding signed between the United States and Iran last month extended the ceasefire between the two countries.
The agreement, made up of 14 points, provides for the end of hostilities "on all fronts", establishes that Iran will never develop a nuclear weapon and creates a fund of US$300 billion (about R$1.5 trillion) for the country's reconstruction and economic development, although the US are not obliged to finance it.
As part of the understanding, Iran and Oman, which share the coast of the Strait of Hormuz, are expected to negotiate with other Gulf countries on future administration and maritime services in the region.
Tehran, in practice, closed the Strait of Hormuz - a route through which about a fifth of the oil and gas traded in the world normally passes - after attacks by the United States and Israel on February 28.
During the conflict, Iran sought to reinforce its sovereignty over the maritime passage, creating the so-called Persian Gulf Strait Authority, responsible, according to the Iranian government, for administering authorizations for a "safe passage".
The Iranian state agency Fars reported that, under the new agreement with the USA, the strait would be administered by Iran in coordination with Oman, including the possibility of charging service fees for vessels using the waterway.
