Ben Stiller to direct documentary about Knicks' NBA victory

Actor Ben Stiller, 60, is working on a documentary about the New York Knicks' first NBA championship victory in 53 years. He was present in San Antonio when the Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 in Game 5 of the 2026 NBA Finals on June 13.

In a post on social media last Tuesday (17), the actor confirmed that he was producing the film, in collaboration with HBO and A24.

"Couldn't be more excited to do this documentary with @a24 and @hbo about the NY KNICKS!!!!!! #LETSGOKNICKS," he wrote in the caption.

A24 and HBO announce partnership with Ben Stiller in documentary about the Knicks' victory
Stiller was seen filming with his own cell phone courtside in several games during the season. In an interview with the Roomates podcast - hosted by Knicks stars Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart - he explained that the documentary he will direct will also have a historical perspective and that he would like to "reach out" to the players to interview them.

"Obviously, I've been filming some stuff on my phone, but it's going to be all eras of the Knicks and this team. There's the culmination here [of the championship] of something that's been going on for a long time, so it's very exciting," Stiller explained to the newly crowned NBA champions. "It's great to have had all this access to your team."

Stiller said he began producing the documentary at the start of the team's playoff run this spring and plans to work on it over the next year. "There are so many incredible eras and this team. (...) We want to make a great documentary for the fans and hopefully include everything. I'm not sure how many parts it will have. We're figuring it out as we go."
