The airlines Azul, Gol, Latam and Abaeté Linhas Aéreas formalized this Tuesday (9) with the Ministry of Ports and Airports the request for access to credit lines with resources from Fnac (National Civil Aviation Fund).

With formalization, the administrative stage necessary for the operationalization of financing in the portfolio was completed, after approval of the resolutions of the Fund Management Committee, with the values and regulation of the necessary counterparts.

One of the counterparts is that airlines must expand their presence in the Legal Amazon and the Northeast, with a 15% increase in the proportion of frequencies operated in these regions compared to the previous year or with the guarantee that 17.5% of their annual takeoffs occur in these markets.

Still as a rule, companies will also need to adhere to the ministry's Sustainability Pact, in addition to adopting environmental, social and corporate governance practices (ESG), expanding the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to promote a further reduction in CO₂ emissions, as well as current legal targets and, during the grace period for certain operations, they will not be able to increase the distribution of profits to shareholders.

The goal must be achieved within 24 months and maintained for at least one year.

BNDES (National Bank for Social Development) will be the operator of the credit line, which will have R$5.5 billion for 2026.

Among the rules, companies with a share of more than 5% in the domestic market will be able to contract up to R$1.8 billion each. The others will have a limit of up to R$166 million.

According to the ministry, interest rates vary according to the purpose of the financing: from 4% for working capital, 6.5% per year for lines aimed at SAF and logistics infrastructure; 7% per year for aircraft and engine maintenance; and 7.5% per year for aircraft acquisition.
