Google launched, this Thursday (17), Android 17. The new operating system presents a renewed interface for running multiple applications at the same time and improves the security of compatible cell phones.
Visually, Android 17 brings few changes compared to the previous version. The main highlight is the possibility of transforming any application into a floating "bubble".

According to Google, just tap and hold an application icon for it to open over the others, without taking up the entire screen.

On devices with larger screens, such as tablets and foldable cell phones, there is an area dedicated to these bubble-shaped applications in the bottom right corner - similar to the Windows taskbar, where open programs are located.

Another feature that takes advantage of larger screens is a gaming interface, exclusive to foldable cell phones. When opening a game, the user can keep it on one half of the screen while using a virtual control on the other.
Finally, a new feature allows you to use the native screen recorder to react to content displayed on the cell phone. The tool automatically crops the person's image, allowing the user to comment on what appears in the background.

Android 17 brings more security options
Three new features of Google's new operating system are focused on security:
Location sharing: now the user can share the exact location of the cell phone or tablet with applications for a limited time;
Contact sharing: a new option allows allows applications to access only selected contacts, instead of the entire device list;
Stolen or lost cell phone: Android 17 has improved the interface in which the user indicates that the device has been lost or stolen, locking the device so that it can only be unlocked with the owner's fingerprint or facial recognition;
Unlocking attempts: on stolen cell phones, the system reduces the number of password unlock attempts and starts displaying how many are still remaining.

When will Android 17 arrive on my cell phone?
At this moment, only Pixel cell phones, sold directly by Google and not yet officially launched in Brazil, have access to the system. For devices sold in the country, the update schedule varies depending on the manufacturer and, in some cases, the operator.
Popular brands such as Samsung, Xiaomi and Motorola usually release shortly after Google's global availability.
