Track No. 18 on disc 2 of The Godfather 50th Anniversary expanded and remastered edition:
Lucky.

Heard in the movie as the scene transitions from Michael and Vito in their New York office to
images of driving through Las Vegas. Composed by Carmine Coppola and arranged and conducted by
Peter King. It would be scrapped from Nino Rota's 1972 official soundtrack, but soon re-arranged
in full length for Coppola's The Godfather's Family Wedding Album in the same year. Also among
my tabs, that version includes a mandolin. This one does not, therefore is a transposal from all
the brass to the mandolin in GDae standard tuning. A clarinet and the trumpets lead the melody
for this 43 second short, big band take. It is possible that this was used in favor of Rota's
deleted score cue Las Vegas Strip, released on this same re-issue.
