I chose Gm as key for this song, although the main chords are surely Cm7 and Dm7.
They are the chords IV and V in a g-minor scale. The I chord, G-minor, never really
appears,
keeping the whole song in a steady flow of chords that wont come to rest at their final
end, the I-chord.
Another characteristic feature of the song is the bass, which is moving constantly - a
feature I
cannot depict here in the chords tab. The constant movement has the same effect as
above:
the chords sound open and restless - the dont sound often with their root in the bass.
The solo part does not even contain a strong fundament in the bass, instead its a chain
of chords with many additions - making it sound lush, vibrant, open, floating.
Those characteristics fit wonderfully to the songs's main message of feeling kind of
abandoned,
rootless, but still waiting and waiting for love to return - maybe for ever. Great
composition!
