A C#m7-5/G has the same notes as an Em6/G (as identified as the second chord in other versions of this same song). Depending on which inversion you play, the chord either emphasizes the C# root, or the E root. The G bass glues both chords to the underlying key of G, but the descending D - C# - C notes means that Harrison intended the C#m7-5\G interpretation to predominate over the Em6/G.....brilliant! He also changes to the Gdim7 on alternate verses , coloring the second chord even more beautifully (and subtly) by simply also dropping the B to a Bb (in the dim7 Chord) then to a A (in a C6/G chord) before transitioning back to the G root chord.......haunting/genius. In my mind Harrison was always the musical genius of the Beatles, Lennon was the Lyrical Genius, Starr was the percussion genius, and McCarthy was the vocal harmony genius. They really were as a group better than anything this planet had ever heard, or seen. I am so grateful for having living through the era of their greatness.
