Afinação: E A D G B ECapotraste: Sem capotraste
the Flat Duo Jets - "Because I Love You" - Track 13 of "Red Tango," 1996.

Tuned lower than Standard Tuning, but not by a whole note. Tune in 432 Hz to E Standard.
This gets you close, but maybe not 100% there.

Lyrics are beneath the tab in quotation marks, "like this." Also,
notes to individual sections of the tab are in-between brackets,
(like this.)

Note before beginning - if you struggle to play some of the parts for this one in the Choruses,
perhaps you're using a guitar with a neck width that's too wide. The guitar Dexter used for
this song was likely his Silvertone 1448, which has a neck nut width of 1.650", and so you may
do better to use a different guitar for this song.

(the ghost notes on the D string, in this case, mean that you don't need to play those. And for these parts
on the High E side, I tend to wrap my thumb around the neck. You can't do this on all guitars, some guitars
have too wide of a neck to do this with. A typical Fender Electric shouldn't be problem, nor should any
Silvertone 1448, like this song was probably recorded on.)

[Gear / Equipment Likely Used for This Song:]
=============================================

Dexter Romweber tended to use a (Danelectro Built) Silvertone 1448 Guitar for
much of the Flat Duo Jets' history. He didn't always, he also had a
Danelectro U1 or U2, but the 1448 is a good choice for this song
(and also for much of the Flat Duo Jets' discography.)

The 1448 is a short-scale guitar with a 23.50" scale, a nut width of 1.650"
(which is only just a bit wider than a Fender's 1 5/8" width,) and it has
one 1950s - 1960s spec Danelectro "Lipstick Tube" Pickup, and a body that's
usually made of a Pine Frame with a Masonite Top and Back glued on.
The Neck is Poplar, with a Brazilian Rosewood Fretboard.

These models are still cheap (relatively)
as of late 2023, going in the range of $200 - $500, depending on condition
and if you also get the Case that originally came with it,
which has an Amp included inside it.

If you get one with the Amp in Case, I advise *against* playing the amp,
unless it's been modified for safety. The old design can shock you
through your strings, though its tone does sound fun.

I don't know which guitar amplifier, or which settings, were used for the
recording of "Because I Love You" though.

[Lyrics:]
=========

"Well, I'd rather go knowing you love me,
than to go on to die knowing you love him, and with you,
with someone new.
To go your life with you.

Because I love you, my darlin', my dearest, my lovely,
yes I love you, and I want you to be near me.
Yes, I love you; my darling, my dearest.
And I hope that you love me too.

Well, I'd rather go
knowing you love me
Than to go on to die
Without you
and you, with someone new.
To go your life with you (?)

'Cause I love you, my darling, my dearest, my lovely
Yes, I love you and I want you to be near me.
Yes, I love you, my darling, my dearest
And I hope that you love me too.

Well, I'd rather go
Knowing you love me
Than to go on through life
without you
and you with someone new.

To go thru life with you
You know I do."
