São Paulo will have above average rain starting this Wednesday (10)

The state of São Paulo is expected to face atypical rain this second week of June, with humid days, lots of clouds and frequent rain. The change in weather begins on Wednesday (10) and is associated with the rapid passage of a cold front along the coast of São Paulo.

The cold is expected to decrease in the capital from this week onwards, but the rain is expected to be intense. Normally, the month of June sees little rain in the state of São Paulo, with occasional events closer to the coast, but the expected rainfall until Sunday (14) could exceed the normal average for the month in several areas of the state.

The average rainfall in most areas of São Paulo varies from 60 mm to 80 mm, reaching around 100 mm in regions closer to Paraná. For the capital, according to Inmet (National Institute of Meteorology), the average rainfall in June is 60 mm. Between the 10th and 14th of June this year, however, the Climatempo forecast already predicts 50 mm to 60 mm of rain over the city.

The change in temperature from Wednesday (10) is due to the approach of a cold front along the coast, associated with an extratropical cyclone and the intensification of low atmospheric pressure between Paraguay and Mato Grosso do Sul, spreading heavy clouds over the state.

The Presidente Prudente region, in the west of the state, could face rain showers in the early hours of Wednesday. Throughout the day, the rain spreads across all regions of São Paulo and is expected to arrive in the greater São Paulo region and in areas such as Vale do Paraíba and the coast in the afternoon.

Rain showers that day will be moderate to heavy and with lightning in several areas of the interior of São Paulo. In greater São Paulo and on the coast, the chance of lightning is low.

Weather forecast: Cold front brings light rain to the Southeast in the coming days | CNN PRIME TIME

Forecast for the week
Between Thursday (11) and Sunday (14) several areas of instability will form or pass over the state, leaving heavy clouds. As a result, moderate to heavy rainfall may occur in several regions.

The new cold front will pass over the state of São Paulo during Friday (12), with the displacement of the extratropical cyclone over the ocean off the coast of the southern region of the country.

The forecast for the weekend, between June 13th and 14th, points to unstable weather, with a risk of heavy rain showers across the entire state, even with some sunny periods.
