Guimarães wants to agree on the 6×1 rite with Alcolumbre by Wednesday (10)

The Minister of Institutional Relations, José Guimarães, stated this Tuesday (9) that he hopes to agree with the president of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP), the rite of voting for the end of the 6×1 scale in the House. According to him, the intention is to define the process of the proposal by Wednesday (10).

To this end, the minister still hopes to have a meeting with Alcolumbre. "I spoke to him on the phone and I'm looking [about the meeting]. My role from today until tomorrow is to consolidate the voting rite here in the Senate," he told journalists in the Senate.

It is up to the President of the House to approve the proposal. Alcolumbre, however, has already signaled that he will not be in a "rush" in the analysis and that the text will not go directly to the plenary. The proposal was approved in the Chamber in the last week of May.

This week, the senators' expectation is to begin discussions on the proposal and agree on the voting schedule. Party leaders are still awaiting a conversation with Alcolumbre about the agenda.

The government base is trying to win the rapporteurship of the PEC (Proposed Amendment to the Constitution) in the Senate. According to Guimarães, the senator and former Minister of Education, Camilo Santana (PT-CE), would be an "excellent choice" for the role, but highlighted that the choice will be up to Alcolumbre.

"We are going to have a conversation with President Davi [Alcolumbre] to find out the roadmap he intends to implement here in the Senate. It is clear that the person who defines the rapporteur is the president of the Senate. There are several suitors, here is one [Camilo Santana]", he said.

Guimarães also stated that he is "talking well" with Congress and that he is working to align the government's priorities until the end of the semester, which include, in addition to the end of 6×1, the project on the exploration of critical minerals and the so-called PEC for Public Security.
