The United States Department of War updated on Monday (8) the list of companies that, according to the American government, collaborate with the Chinese military. The new version of the list has 188 companies and included more names from the technology sector.
Among them are the search engine Baidu, the robot manufacturers Unitree and Robosense Technology, the e-commerce giant Alibaba and the chip manufacturers CXMT and YMTC.
The document also includes the automaker BYD, the biotechnology company WuXi AppTec and the telecommunications equipment manufacturer Baicells.
Due to a recent law, from the end June, the War Department will not be able to contract directly from companies present in the document. And, starting in 2027, the agency will not be able to purchase its products and services through third parties.

In the document, the War Department stated that the companies "qualify for the designation of 'Chinese military companies'" and operate in the US. They may request removal from the list, according to the agency.
Although the document does not impose formal sanctions on Chinese companies, they could suffer concrete harm from the decision. Inclusion on the list also sends a damaging message about these companies to U.S. government suppliers.
The Chinese Embassy in the United States said the Chinese government opposes "creating discriminatory lists to harass Chinese companies" and that they comply with local laws and regulations. beginning of 2025 and is announced less than a month after American President Donald Trump meets with his Chinese correspondent Xi Jinping in Beijing.
The meeting saw an exchange of praise, but ended with impasses on sensitive issues such as Taiwan, considered by China to be part of its territory.
