Last Sunday (7), right after the Brazilian Women's National Team friendly match, Corinthians began the process of changing the pitch at the Neo Química Arena, taking advantage of the period without games due to the break for the World Cup, which will take place between June 11th and July 19th in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

In a video released on social media, João Paulo, an agronomist at World Sports, a company known for being a specialist in sports lawns and responsible for the maintenance of the Corinthians stadium, explained how the change in the flooring has been carried out: "It's been around 25 hours of uninterrupted service. We are finishing the frazemowing process of the lawn here at Neo Química Arena. This phase process is a scraping. It is the scraping of the surface layer of the field, where this grass creates an organic matter. So, it's a material that sometimes people see as darker, so it looks like clay, mud."

"It is a material that holds a lot of moisture. Some players also complain that it makes the field a little more slippery, despite it being a bit of a characteristic of high grass, compared to the Bermuda grass found in most stadiums in Brazil. This phase process is a very common process to be carried out in the biggest stadiums in Europe, which use this type of grass. Here in Brazil the frequency is not so great due to the calendar, which is very tight, difficult. We have 45, 60 days for the field to operate. But as you can see, the process has already been completed", he began.

He went on to detail the maintenance of the lawn's synthetic fiber and the next steps until the process is completed: "The next steps are the maintenance of this synthetic fiber. So, make sure there is nothing loose, clean it, use a fine comb. Clean this fiber, brush it to keep it upright. Keep it upright. Along with this brushing, we will make a sand cover. So it's replacing the material that was removed to make sure the field will be level, right? And at the same time, continue with this brushing. Then, after this process, we will sow the field."

The professional concludes: "So it will be 100% replaced, 100% sown. This seed, after germinating, will emit roots. These roots will intertwine with this fiber. And that is what will support the field there. So that we can have a quality field there for a longer time. This scraping has already been done a few times since the construction of the arena."

"But it's the first since the insertion of the new fiber, right? It was carried out just before the NFL game, last year. So now, the expectation with the new fiber and the new lawn, this plant with vigor, this young plant, right? With more vigor, the expectation that the field will be at the same standard as it was in 2014. So it's a field that will withstand not only the 2026 season, but also in the coming years."

The last complete replacement of the Neo Química Arena lawn took place in September 2025. At the time, the intervention was carried out in preparation for the National Football League (NFL) match played in Itaquera between the Los Angeles Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs.

With the pause in national competitions, Corinthians found an ideal window to make improvements without compromising the game calendar. The men's squad went on vacation after the 3 x 1 victory over Grêmio, in the penultimate round of the first round Brazilian Championship, away from home, and will only officially return to play in the week of July, when they will host Remo, in the national competition.

In addition to changing the pitch, the black and white board is also studying other interventions in the stadium's structure. Among the planned actions is a general cleaning of the Neo Química Arena, including external areas and coverage.

The last operation of this size took place in 2020, before the implementation of the visual identity linked to the stadium's naming rights agreement.

Another topic under analysis involves the modernization and maintenance of the screens and LED panels spread throughout the Arena. The club evaluates alternatives to correct wear and tear accumulated over the years and seeks partners to make improvements to the equipment possible. Corinthians' expectation is to take advantage of the period without matches to carry out the necessary interventions and deliver the Neo Química Arena fully prepared to receive commitments for the second half of the season.
