Apple launches iOS 27 boosted with AI and new version of Siri; see which iPhones will receive the system

Apple announced this Monday (8) iOS 27, a new version of the operating system for iPhones. This time, the company highlighted new artificial intelligence features.

Among the visual changes to iOS, Apple introduced a new version of Liquid Glass, a translucent effect inspired by glass that appears on interface elements, such as notifications, buttons and command bars.

According to the company, Liquid Glass can now be further customized by the user, who can opt for a more transparent or more opaque look.
Application icons, such as Maps and Safari, were also updated and started to incorporate more features of Liquid Glass, with greater emphasis on transparency and reflection effects.

The new 'Siri AI'
Using Gemini (from Google), Apple also presented a new version of Siri. According to the company, the assistant gained its own app and was redesigned to be more fluid and intuitive.
Among the new features is "visual intelligence", in which Siri starts to understand what is being displayed on the iPhone's screen. In one of the demonstrations, the assistant identified a location shown in an Instagram photo and suggested a route to the destination using the Maps app.
The iPhone camera will have a "Siri Mode" to perform visual searches using Siri AI - such as nutritional information on a plate of food.

The company also showed that Siri will be able to access updated information in real time. As an example, the assistant displayed the World Cup table and the ranking of the teams during the competition.
Apple also stated that Siri's voice is more natural and expressive, with the aim of making interactions more similar to a human conversation. Users will also be able to adjust characteristics such as speed and level of voice expressiveness.
According to the company, the new generation of Siri AI will initially be launched in English and will reach other languages "soon". Developers can now test the new feature starting this Monday.

Apple also announced new AI features for its own apps, such as Safari, Messages, Mail, Calendar and Phone. According to the company, the proposal is to make these tools more integrated with each other.
One of the new features is the Casa (Home) app, used to control smart devices. The application will now display automatic summaries of images captured by security cameras, with descriptions such as "man delivered a package" or "person arrived with a basket of fruit".
Image Playground, an AI image creation application, will gain new features for generating scenes and illustrations. In one of the demonstrations, Apple showed the creation of a birthday cake image from a contact's photo.
The Photos app will receive more advanced editing tools. Among them are resources to enlarge images, adjust framing and make changes with a greater level of detail.
System promises performance gains
Apple stated that iOS and macOS will become faster thanks to improvements in the use of RAM memory and the processor. According to the company, one of the areas that will benefit will be browsing through the iPhone's photo library.
Searches on Macs, iPads and iPhones should also become more agile due to changes in the file indexing system.

Apple said that part of these improvements will be available even on older models, such as the iPhone 11.
Another new feature is AirDrop, the company's file transfer tool. According to Apple, the feature is up to 80% faster than in the previous version.
