UFC Freedom 250 at the White House is the subject of dispute; understand

UFC Freedom 250, scheduled for next Sunday (14), on the South Lawn of the White House, was challenged by a federal lawsuit.

Billed as the first professional sporting event held on the grounds of the American president's residence and part of the celebrations of 250 years of American independence, the event is timed to coincide with President Donald Trump's 80th birthday.

The lawsuit, filed in federal court in the District of Columbia, claims that the organization of the event is illegal. This is what Brendan Ballou, lead lawyer for the Public Integrity Project, the entity that filed the lawsuit, alleges.

The Public Integrity Project is a self-described anti-corruption law firm based in Washington. The government has already issued a response to ESPN.

"This is an obstructionist, baseless and delaying lawsuit brought simply to prevent President Trump from organizing what will undoubtedly become one of our nation's most historic sporting events during the semiquincentennial celebration."
